Who I see
I offer counselling to individuals 19 years and older, as well as couples.
Individuals will show up in my practice bringing concerns of life transitions, relationship concerns, anxious thought patterns or negative thinking, past history of trauma or abuse along with familial challenges. I work with what you bring to the counselling space. Together, we define the goals we work towards and talk about how you want to get there. I work with clients from all walks of life with a varying range of issues in an encouraging and non-judgemental manner. I emphasize the individual’s strengths and creative abilities to find solutions to their challenges, keeping in mind that things can always be different.
I believe that the foundation of therapeutic work is the capacity of therapist and client to create and maintain a safe place in which the client can explore life and any issues that may be interfering with desired goals. Healing can occur when an individual feels safe enough and supported enough to take the learning and experiences from the counselling office into everyday life. I offer an encouraging environment in which clients can give voice to their feelings and thoughts in order to gain clarity.
Like everyone, my life has had its ups and downs, triumphs and disappointments. I’ve found it helpful to have someone who can listen, help me make sense of my experiences, and offer assistance when I feel stuck. I strive to bring this to my clients’ experiences in counselling.

Who I see
I offer counselling to children age 10 and up, adolescents, families and individual adults.
People often show up in my practice when they are feeling stuck in life, whether this be an unresolved trauma, a behavioural pattern, a disordered eating pattern or challenging emotions. They may be noticing that their trauma has been holding them back from being fully engaged in life, they are not present, feeling frozen and unable to move forward in time. Others are aware that they are stuck in shame, guilt, perfectionism or anger. Individuals may also notice that they are using food as a method of coping for overwhelming emotions, judging themselves for not being able to handle life differently. I see people wanting to have healthier connections with others, as well as themselves, and they are finding it challenging to navigate these obstacles.
Many people I work with are aware that they are holding onto hurts from childhood, they feel trapped in the child that is hurt, feeling lonely, isolated and disconnected. Often they have been let down by those who were supposed to protect them, which can create a critical narrative of themselves believing that this happened because of who they are. This can further lead to being in unhealthy relationships because they believe this is all they deserve or it is what they know.
I also see many children and adolescents who are processing difficult emotions, who are developing their own identity and autonomy, who are also navigating friendship challenges and expectations. I help them see there are ways to move through difficult situations and learn healthy communication skills. I also provide family therapy to help create healthy family dynamics, parent/child relationships and give guidance to how to work together to resolve family conflict.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between us plays an essential role in the healing process of an individual. We work together to establish a relationship of safety and trust to explore your current challenges and move towards healing and change. It is my goal for you to feel supported, understood and validated when we work together. I provide a non-judgemental space for you to be vulnerable and to reflect on your life experiences. As a therapist, I believe that you are the expert on your own life while I can offer insight and direction from an unbiased perspective. I find it very rewarding to be a part of someone’s journey, to help people move through their pain and come out the other side with greater understanding, vitality and meaning in life.
